Workshop 1: Discover the Tasks Behind Full-Stack Development
Full-stack development is changing fast — frontend, backend, cloud, DevOps, AI-assisted development. With so much to learn, one question becomes surprisingly hard to answer:
What should a Full-Stack Developer actually know — and what should you learn next?
Instead of handing you another predefined skills framework, we'll build one together with you: over three collaborative workshops, we'll create a Full-Stack Developer SkillForest — a visual map of the skills behind the profession and how they connect. Afterwards, you'll get access to the finished SkillForest in the Skillforests app to guide your own growth.

Before asking "What skills does a Full-Stack Developer need?", we start with a more fundamental question:
What does a Full-Stack Developer actually do?
During this first two-hour workshop, we will explore the real tasks and responsibilities behind Full-Stack Development. Together with other developers, you will identify, discuss, organize, and connect the work that makes up the profession.
The result of this first workshop becomes the foundation for Part 2: Skills, where we identify the skills and knowledge required to perform those tasks.
🔎 See the bigger picture — and learn from your peers. Get beyond the technologies you use every day and explore what Full-Stack Development looks like across different teams and companies. Compare your experience with other developers, discover tasks and skills you may not encounter in your current role, and gain a clearer picture of the profession as a whole.
🌳 Build a SkillForest you can actually use. Together with other Full-Stack Developers, you will create a shared Full-Stack Developer SkillForest based on real professional experience. After completing the series, you'll get access to the finished SkillForest in the Skillforests app, where you can use it to explore your capabilities, track your development, and guide your next steps.
🚀 Grow your career with more focus and direction. Learn the SkillForest method for structuring your professional development. Understand where you are today, identify your strengths and gaps, and see what to learn next instead of trying to learn everything at once. This gives you a clearer development path, helps you focus your learning effort, and gives you a better understanding of your professional value.

This workshop is the first step in a three-part journey. Across three Wednesday evenings, we will move from understanding the work of a Full-Stack Developer to creating a complete SkillForest for the profession.

| 🌿 Part 2: SKILLS |
Wednesday, August 19, 2026 19:00–21:00 JST 12:00–14:00 CEST |
What skills and knowledge do those tasks require? Identify the capabilities behind the work discovered in Part 1. |
| 🌳 Part 3: TREES |
Wednesday, August 26, 2026 19:00–21:00 JST 12:00–14:00 CEST |
How do those skills connect and build upon each other? Turn our collective work into a Full-Stack Developer SkillForest. |
You can attend individual sessions, and new participants can build on the work created in previous workshops. However, because each workshop builds on the previous one, you’ll get the most value by joining the complete journey.
Together, we'll build a Full-Stack Developer SkillForest — created by Full-Stack Developers.
It will help you:

As a participant, you'll get exclusive early access to the finished Full-Stack Developer SkillForest in the Skillforests app.
Use it to explore your skills, understand where you stand, and continue growing after the workshop.
Engineering Manager
"Breaking down the qualities necessary for a role into tasks, then into skills, and organizing them into a path you can follow gives me a new perspective on developing my capabilities. It helps me advance my career."
Frontend Engineer
"Agreeing on SkillForest definitions that provide clear orientation and are accepted by everyone is a collaborative group exercise that improves teamwork and performance."
This workshop is for everyone who actively works in Full-Stack Development or has meaningful professional experience in the field.
You don't need to be a senior developer or know every technology. What matters is that you have practical experience you can bring into the discussion.
SkillForest is a visual approach to skill and competency development that turns professional capabilities into interconnected trees and forests.
Instead of treating skills as an isolated checklist, SkillForest shows how capabilities relate to each other and which skills provide the foundation for further development. This creates visible learning paths that help individuals understand what they already know, where they want to grow, and what they could learn next.
For teams, the same approach makes existing capabilities and skill gaps visible, helping people better understand each other's knowledge and development.

You will actively work together with other Full-Stack Developers to discuss, organize, and build the SkillForest. The value comes from the different experiences and perspectives people bring into the room, so we intentionally keep the group small enough for everyone to contribute.
Participation is 100% free.
Only 12 seats available.
Complete all three workshops, and you'll leave with access to the finished Full-Stack Developer SkillForest in the Skillforests app — created together with the other developers in the series.
Yes. Participation in the workshop is 100% free. You'll also receive free access to the Skillforests app, including the Full-Stack Developer SkillForest we create together.
No. You can join an individual session, and people joining later can continue from the work created in previous workshops.
However, we strongly recommend attending all three sessions if possible, as each session builds on the work of the previous one. Joining the complete series allows you to experience and influence the entire journey from discovering the tasks to creating the final Full-Stack Developer SkillForest.
No. The workshop will not be recorded.
This is a hands-on working session built around collaborative exercises and discussion rather than presentations. Please join live and be prepared to actively participate.
You need a computer, a stable internet connection, and a modern web browser.
We will use Zoom for the online session and Mural for collaborative exercises. Please make sure you can access these tools before the workshop.
Most importantly, bring your experience and perspective as a Full-Stack Developer. Please join from an environment where you can actively participate in discussions and collaborative exercises.
