Before asking "What skills does a Full-Stack Developer need?", we start with a more fundamental question:

What does a Full-Stack Developer actually do?

During this first two-hour workshop, we will explore the real tasks and responsibilities behind Full-Stack Development. Together with other developers, you will identify, discuss, organize, and connect the work that makes up the profession.

Rather than starting with a predefined list of competencies, we start with your actual experience. What do you do as part of your work? What do other Full-Stack Developers do differently? Which responsibilities belong to the role today, and how is the profession changing?

The result of this first workshop becomes the foundation for Workshop 2, where we identify the skills and knowledge required to perform those tasks.

🌳 From Tasks to a Full-Stack Developer SkillForest

This workshop is the first step in a three-part journey. Across three Wednesday evenings, we will move from understanding the work of a Full-Stack Developer to creating a complete SkillForest for the profession.

In Workshop 1, we discover the tasks and responsibilities of Full-Stack Developers. In Workshop 2, we identify the skills and knowledge needed to perform those tasks. In Workshop 3, we connect those skills and turn our collective work into a Full-Stack Developer SkillForest.

You can attend individual sessions, and new participants can continue from the work created in previous workshops. However, because each workshop builds on the previous one, priority is given to participants committing to all three sessions.

For the best experience — and the greatest opportunity to shape the final SkillForest — we strongly recommend joining the complete journey.

By the end of the series, we aim to create a Full-Stack Developer SkillForest built by Full-Stack Developers.

Meet Your Hosts

Juliusz Fedyk

Juliusz Fedyk is the founder of Skillforests and an engineering leader with over 15 years of experience building digital products, leading engineering teams, and developing people.

Throughout his career, Juliusz has worked across software engineering, product development, and innovation, including leadership roles at Peatix and the Accenture Innovation Centre (Fjord). He is passionate about creating products that solve real human problems through technology, design thinking, and user-centered innovation.

While leading and coaching engineering teams, Juliusz noticed that traditional competency matrices and skill assessments rarely motivated people or reflected how they actually learned. Inspired by these findings, he developed a gamified competency management system for his own team, which became SkillForest — a visual, tree-based approach that makes skill development engaging, intuitive, and actionable.

Stefan Nüsperling

Stefan Nüsperling is the founder of NuWorks and the co-founder of Skillforests. He is an organizational development facilitator and trainer with more than 15 years of experience in Agile leadership, Change Management, Learning & Development, and Management 3.0.

Having worked with multinational organizations across Japan, South Korea, and Germany, Stefan specializes in helping teams and leaders navigate organizational change, cultural diversity, and continuous learning. Over the course of his career, he has facilitated workshops and training programs for thousands of participants, from engineers and team leaders to senior executives.

As Japan's first licensed Management 3.0 Facilitator, Stefan is passionate about creating workplaces where people can grow, collaborate, and adapt successfully to change. As co-founder of Skillforests, he brings extensive experience in facilitation and organizational transformation to help turn the vision of visible, engaging skill development into practical workshops and products.

Is the workshop really free?

Yes. Participation in the workshop is 100% free.

Do I have to attend all three workshops?

No. You can join an individual session, and people joining later can continue from the work created in previous workshops.

However, we strongly recommend attending all three sessions if possible, as each session builds on the work of the previous one. Priority is given to participants committing to all three sessions. Joining the complete series allows you to experience and influence the entire journey from discovering the tasks to creating the final Full-Stack Developer SkillForest.

Will the workshop be recorded?

No. The workshop will not be recorded.

This is a hands-on working session built around collaborative exercises and discussion rather than presentations. Please join live and be prepared to actively participate.

What tools do I need?

You need a computer, a stable internet connection, and a modern web browser.

We will use Zoom for the online session and Mural for collaborative exercises. Please make sure you can access these tools before the workshop.
